Eric Taylor in the mountains

I’m an incoming DPhil student in AI for the Environment at the University of Oxford. I’m interested in using machine learning to tackle important problems, from environmental science to building safe and reliable AI systems. I’m particularly drawn to technical research that could have a large positive impact.

Before that, I studied Geography at the University of Cambridge, where I researched the limitations of modelling debris-covered glaciers.

Outside of work, I enjoy running (when not injured), being in nature, and building unnecessarily elaborate things in Minecraft.

🔹 I donate a portion of my income and stipend to effective charities through Giving What We Can’s Trial Pledge.

This is a home for my work, the things I make for fun, and occasional notes.
